Trichology Treatments

IN-CLINIC TREATMENTS & AT HOME MANAGEMENT

The clinic was established to treat hair and scalp conditions with an evidence-based approach, offering open and supportive guidance to help patients make informed choices. In-clinic treatment plans consist of keratolytics and light-therapy to reduce inflammation and encourage stimulation. At home plans are curated with a holistic focus on health and wellbeing, considering factors such as lifestyle, diet, medical history, and hair care practices to tailor treatments.

TRICHOLOGY TREATMENTS FAQs

The aim of trichological treatments are to provide stimulative, cleansing, and conditioning effects. In-clinic treatments will increase circulation of blood flow to the scalp, causing vasodilation of the blood capillaries at the base of each hair follicle increasing the possibility of hair regrowth and maintenance. Not all conditions are suitable so consultation is required.

Depending on under-lying condition, trichological treatments may involve application of a keratolytic ointment to the scalp, moist heat scalp steaming, hair and scalp cleansing and conditioning, and/or small series of electrotherapy and light treatments depending on the severity of the condition. Prior to any treatment, a trichology consultation is required.

We offer high-frequency, UV light therapy, infrared light therapy, low level laser therapy (LLLT) in clinic depending on your diagnosis. The aim of these treatments is to provide vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory function. We can also formulate at home treatment plans that incorporate FDA cleared LLLT devices, topical products, and supplementation if needed.

Trichology is not currently an NHS service. Trichologists do work closely with dermatologists and regularly refer patients for prescribed treatments that are outside the treatment competence of the trichologist. A trichologist can, however, work closely with those patients to help with the symptoms felt on the scalp through trichological treatments and light therapy.
