The role of the trichologists is to identify when further expertise is needed, and guide patients appropriately. We can provide onward refers to medical specialists, trusted hair transplant surgeons, and work closely with GPs to ensure you receive the best treatment plan.

Where appropriate, the trichologist can give advice to those patients wishing to be referred to members of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (BAHRS). We work closely with a trusted clinic and are trained to assess suitability for hair restoration by diagnosis and prognosis.
Medical Referrals
Blood Tests & Biopsy
When required, further tests can be arranged to confirm the diagnosis if deficiencies, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, or autoimmunity is suspected. This may include referrals back to your GP, dermatologist, endocrinologist or other relevant medical specialist – NHS or private.
Prescription Hair Loss
& Pharmacy Referrals
A trichologist is highly trained but is not able to prescribe. Therefore, should you need a prescription your trichologist will refer you on to a registered UK pharmacist who can provide medical screening, risk factor assessment, and tailored hair loss treatments, or work closely with other medical specialists.
