Verve is based in a beautifully restored 18th-century mill in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. Since 2008, we have supported individuals experiencing hair loss to rebuild confidence. What began as a specialist hair loss salon has grown into three dedicated areas of care: advanced hair loss solutions, an evidence-based trichology clinic, and an online boutique for luxury wigs and toppers.
Every service we provide is bespoke. Whether that’s restoring confidence through discreet integrated hair systems and non-surgical hair replacement in our dedicated hair loss salon, or understanding the root cause of your concerns in our trichology clinic – our specialist team is here for you.
Our ethos is simple – to create a space that feels safe, private, and supportive for anyone navigating hair loss, hair thinning, trichotillomania, or scalp concerns. With four private treatment rooms and over 18 years of expertise – we are deeply commitment to compassionate care.
This ethos is shaped by lived experience. Our co-owner Charlotte has lived with alopecia and worn wigs and hair systems for over 17 years. She understands first-hand the emotional journey hair loss can bring. That’s why she is passionate about creating a space where hair loss can be spoken about openly and without shame.

Meet Charlotte & Melanie
Melanie and Charlotte are the mother-and-daughter duo behind Verve. Their journey with the business began in 2009, when Charlotte, then just 13 and newly experiencing hair loss, first walked through Verve’s doors as a client. What struck them both was the calm, private, and nurturing environment – qualities that made a lasting impact during a difficult time. Charlotte continued to attend Verve for many years, and in 2020, she and Melanie took the heartfelt step of purchasing the business. Their aim was simple: to offer future clients the same sense of safety, support, and understanding that had meant so much to them. With first-hand experience of the emotional and physical challenges of alopecia, they are deeply committed to making every client feel seen, heard, and cared for.
The Verve Story So Far
Verve Hair Loss Specialists was founded by Gillian to create a space that felt safe and private for anybody concerned with thinning hair and hair loss, offering lace integration systems and hair replacement from within a private room of an existing salon.
Melanie sought out the services of Verve to help Charlotte with her confidence at school as she had began to loose her hair due to alopecia areata incognita. With this a new friendship formed, as Charlotte undertook her year 10 school work experience at Verve working for Gillian a year later in 2010.
As Verve celebrated it's 5th year in business in 2012, the following years saw huge growth. Expanding from a rented solo chair into a full salon space. In 2015, Lisa joined the team to cover maternity leave. Needless to say, Lisa never left and began her training in hair replacement and integrated hair systems, and with this in 2017, Lisa became our Salon Manager.
Verve celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary and began partnering with Dimples, Aderans, and Ellen Wille to retail wigs and toppers in salon.
Sandra joined the Verve team and entered the world of alternative hair. In 2019, Verve also saw the partnership between Verve and iWig by Erica Luxembourg, which has become a favourite amongst clients ever since.
Gillian wanted to retire so Melanie and Charlotte bought Verve to ensure future clients experienced the same sense of safety, support, and understanding that had meant so much to them since 2009.
Verve hosted their first “Hair Donation Event” to help gather hair donations for Little Princess Trust to help build back up stock following the pandemic. Learn more about Verve’s partnership with LPT here.
At Verve we’re always expanding our knowledge to bring you even more.
In 2021, Charlotte enrolled on to study with The Institute of Trichologists.
In 2022, Lisa advanced her skills by completing an advanced hair replacement course, and Sandra trained in mesh-free hair integration.
The Verve team trained with Aderans in CYBER & V-HAIR, and attended Little Princess Trust HQ for on-going training.
To celebrate Verve’s 15 year anniversary, Retail by Verve was launched to sell our carefully selected range of wigs and toppers online.
Charlotte graduated from the Institute of Trichologists and was awarded the Keith Hobbs Outstanding Achievement Award. And with this, she opened Verve Trichology Clinic.
Verve was awarded the gold standard for wig fitters for another year in a row. Verve are immensely proud of their partnership with the Little Princess Trust and are dedicated to providing the best standard of care for those experiencing hair loss due to treatment or other conditions.
